Perhaps people haven’t connected with Banks in the past because she’s a bit posh, never smiles and her dress code is “Russian villain from a Matt Damon movie”, but this track should equal an automatic promotion to pop’s top tier. A song about self-empowerment, self-harm and self-love, it sounds like Hit Me Baby One More Time if it was produced by the Weeknd in 1983.

Banks new album

About The Altar is BANKS' sophomore album, following her 2014 debut Goddess.

She announced the title and artwork for the album on July 29, 2016 following the release of the lead single “Fuck With Myself” on July 12.

This album features more confessional, confrontational songs about relationships, power and human interaction. Conflict between self-damage and self-acceptance is a theme that runs through the album.
